Day 46

Short update. She does "Tap" now. Which is hitting my hand/a target with her nose rather than her paw.

Was very easy to teach her and she caught on right away!

Day 41

So she's got Bow and Beg down now so we've moved on to Sorry and Weave.

Sorry was quite simple. She already automatically puts her head down when I'm holding a treat, so I incorporated a command in there. Needing some leading at first and now she's got it down. I'll eventually go from there to teach her nod. So we'll start working on bringing her head up after she puts it down.

Got a video of her doing Sorry

Weave still needs a lot of luring. I can walk along side the weave poles and hold my hand in the air and she'll follow so it's not major luring. She does it better fast though. If I walk slowly she seems to get confused lol but if I do it at a jog she gets it better.

Update

Still working on strengthening Bow.

I need to take her out and work on the items for the OB trial in public. She performs them in the yard, but I need to make sure she'll do it in public too. I don't want to get to the trial and then she has a spaz moment. Show is June 12 I believe so I still have a ways to go.

No real updates, but here are the tricks I want to work on:

Say Hello
Tap [touch an object with her nose]
drop on fuss
Bounce [resembles a pogo stick]
Crawl
Yawn
Sorry
Shake head no

I was also thinking of doing something completely useless like put 3 markers in the shape of a triangle and teach her to go to each post individually with a separate command for each. Can you tell I'm desperate here for new things? hah

Day 35

So...I was out of town for a week and wasn't able to work with her at all. I had to leave her in CA while I was in UT :[

Anyway, I got back on Saturday and we picked right back up where we left off.

We worked on two new things. Beg and Bow. Beg she got instantly. It's fairly simple so I wasn't overly surprised.
Bow took her a tad bit longer to catch on. Naturally, she wants to lay completely down rather than just putting her front end down. I've been practicing with her and putting either my hand or foot under her so only her front end can go down. She'll do it every so often without my hand there, but it isn't solid. Definitely need to practice it some more.

Since we'll be -finally- starting our Love On A Leash visits I'm going to be introducing "Say Hello" to her. For this all she needs to do is walk up and place her head in my lap. Will be nice for the visits.

I'm tempted to cheat and extend our end date since I missed that week. Debating...

Day 22

Today we learned "nose" which is the equivalent of "put your head down" or "relax" or whatever you wish to call it. I used a bone as a target to teach it. Started out praising every time she nosed the bone and it went from there. For something so simple I find it ridiculously adorable.

Also continuing to work on strengthening her drop on recall. She's been lazy these past two days [shocking..!] so she's super slow on the recall. Mr. Tortoise would beat her without breaking a sweat.

Days 9-21

I haven't updated in a loooong time. We've still been working everyday. Took a short break to get her CGC and Therapy dog certification! wooo.

As for new commands we did "Mat" [go to a specific place/object and lay down], "Watch" [eyes on me], "find it" [for Tracking], and Drop on recall.

Other than that I've been working on strengthening her distance stays, fuss, going from platz to sit to platz again and lots and lots of Tracking! We've been busy busy going to pet stores, taking her CGC and Therapy tests, going to the dog park and a lot of running and exploring with Mr. Travis.

I'm going to work on strengthening her drop on recall [she does it from about a 5 ft distance so far] and then work on drop on fuss. I want to get her CD title next so thats why I've been working on Fuss a lot.

Day 7 & 8

I had the random urge to lay a track and do some [seriously] amateur tracking with Addaxx. She loved it and picked up on what she was supposed to do right away. The tracking kind of sparked teaching "touch", something I hadn't taught yet for whatever reason. Most people start with "touch" from the beginning. lol

She had a love/hate relationship with learning "touch". She started getting so frustrated she'd kick the object away or pick it up [which is exactly what I want lol]. Once she realized that touching or even sniffing said object would bring yummy treats she loved it! I was sitting there talking to my brother in an attempt to show him how to train 'touch' to his Chihuahua, and Addaxx was sitting in front of me pawing at the object and looking at me for a reward. She's too funny sometimes.

I got a cell phone vid of her doing "touch"
